Parking a bit further from the main lot on the west side of hwy 40.Starting up the trail in pleasant forest.A steep but obvious trail through light forest.A steep but obvious trail through light forest.A steep but obvious trail through light forest.Views up hwy 40.The trees thin near the fork in route options.The right hand fork is easier but is loose scree on hard pan dirt and slab.The left fork option leads to moderately exposed slabs and ridges.West Baldy (L), Mary Barclays and Twin Towers (R).Twin Towers (L) and Yates Mountain (C). along with the ridge at right.The ridge is quite loose in places.Looking NW off the ridge over Barrier Lake towards Yates Mountain.The moderate ridge at left with the summit rising above.
