I climbed Mount Cory with Sonny, Kelley and Dan on a day when the weather in Banff had no idea what it wanted to do! Since I screwed up on my camera settings (white balance issues) I had to convert all these pictures to black and white.
It's going to be a long, hot grind up the south ridge of Cory!Looking down the very dry south ridge. There are short stretches of forest on the ridge.Looking back towards the Sundance Range and up Brewster Creek. The outlier at upper left means I'm approaching the plateau.Mount Bourgeau is spectacular in the morning lighting.Sheep on the plateau don't mind me at all!Views towards a very distant false summit outlier from the plateau.Views west from the plateau towards the Castle Mountain massif. The false summit is a long way off yet.Lots of this. The gullies and terrain can get confusing to the false summit.Looking back towards Sulfur Mountain at left and Massive Range at right.More steep, dirt, dinner plate gullies.Hitting more snow as I approach the upper mountain.A very distinctive wall of bubbled rock at right. False summit visible.Views towards Mount Rundle rising over Banff were awesome all day.More steep, loose gullies to ascend.Great views to the false summit.Looking back over a small whaleback on the ridge.Looking west (L) and up to the false summit.
